Cooking Classes Every Month!

We had our very first cooking class yesterday and it was so much fun! We made a basic pasta dough, a red sauce, and a butter sage sauce—man, it turned out so good! I think the real benefit is that everyone gets a chance to be involved and take something home with them.

Oscar shows the class how to make the ‘volcano’ of flour before adding the eggs. Everyone got a chance to knead and handle the dough to get a feel for what the perfect texture should be.

Chef Oscar preps the rolled dough for the ravioli filling. We made a cheese filling with mozzarella, parmesan, gorgonzola, and goat cheese.

We had a full class, too—everyone got coffee and breakfast as we got started and met each other. Oscar demonstrated the best techniques for making hand-made pasta and then we experimented with ravioli and spaghetti.

Everyone got to go home with some pasta dough of their own as well as recipe cards for everything we made together.

To be honest, I was a little bit skeptical about the time of day—having class so early in the morning. But it worked out really well! It gave us the chance to have the whole kitchen to ourselves and take our time. But for next month’s class, we’re going to host two sections: one in the morning and one in the evening. I’m hoping that by creating more options for y’all that you’ll be able to join us!
